Career Development Study Tour 2009
For 2009 our study will take us to an island steeped in history, Malta.

We are currently working with the Maltese Library Association (MaLIA, http://www.malia-malta.org/) to devise a programme that will include a variety of professional and cultural visits. The programme is subject to change but I hope to include visits to cover the Maltese public library service, the University of Malta and MCAST (Maltese college of arts and technology http://www.mcast.edu.mt/default.asp), and the National library (Valetta) and archives (Rabat) which include collections from the Order of St John. There are many places of interest to see as well as the professional visits such as Mdina, the silent city, the Palace Armoury, Archaeology museum and much more, http://www.heritagemalta.org/ . A variety of cultural visits will be included in the tour but there will be spare time for you to either relax or visit other places of interest that we don’t cover. As well as the visits, 2009 sees the 40th anniversary of MaLIA and we been invited to take part in their celebrations and share experiences with Maltese librarians.
Expressions of interest and for further information please contact Tracey Ainsley by the September 15th at tracey.ainsley@northumbria.ac.uk. Please put MALTA in the subject line. Please note places are limited. |
