2005 has been a year of renewed focus on continuing professional development throughout the CILIP membership due to the new Framework of Qualifications which came into force in April. As a Special Interest Group solely dedicated to the CPD of its members, CDG has quite rightly played a large part in this process. We feature in this issue a first look at some of the types of submission to the board which are now possible as well as Chartership: Fellowship, Revalidation and Certification. 3 members of the Group who have successfully submitted in these categories share their experiences with the rest of us.
Following on from the last issue's focus on International issues, we bring you a special report from Edwina Smart - RLO for the Wales division - who visited post-tsunami library reconstruction projects while on holiday in Sri Lanka.
We also feature an interesting piece on CILIP's Benevolent Fund, a service that CILIP provides its members which, paradoxically, it is hoped will be used by as few members as possible. However, we are helping to publicise its existence so that members know it is there if needed.
We also have a report on Members Day, as well as a round-up of what all of the different Career Development Group divisions have been up to over the last year, which clearly shows an enormous amount of work being done on a voluntary basis, to support the Group, its members and its aims.
This is the last issue of Impact from the current editorial team; we've had a great time, as well as an enormous learning curve, bringing you Impact over the last two years and we'd like to wish our successors every success with their own editorship! Impact is a fantastic journal and membership benefit for Career Development Group members, and I'm sure it will go from strength to strength.
It just remains for me to wish all of our readers a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and I hope to see you at one of the Career Development Group's many CPD events in 2006.
